I am just about to finish the Medical Billing and Coding training program at a local technology center. What credential should I look at obtaining first?

I agree with Carolyn. It is an excellent starting point and carries a lot of weight with employees.

I would recommend the CPC credential first since the coding rules impact your billing and allow you to assist providers with the proper way to code and document for maximum reimmbursement. It also helps prepare for ICD-10 which I can assure you, providers will be knocking down your door for assistance!
